Uncommon Names Few Parents would Choose
CalciFer
"I can't get over what I heard at the Seattle aquarium the other day.
A father was looking for his son, calling him... CalciFer. No joke! He was pronouncing it as Kal-suh-fur.
He was also calling another kid names Arrow, but that name doesn't seem so strange compared to Calcifer. Poor Kids."
Speechless
"My parents had given up all hope of having a baby after ten years of marriage. finally, they received the happy news that they were going to be parents.
That's when they decided to name me Speechless."

Lazy-Eye
As Samy walks through the streets, she hears someone shout "Hey, Lazy-Eye, wait for us!"
Intrigued, he turns around and sees a smiling teenage girl running toward a group of friends, her wavy hair dances with each step, and her eyes sparkle energy.
Curious about the nickname, Samy listens as she laughingly explains: "My dad called me that because my mom always fell asleep at the movies when she was pregnant."
the group bursts into laughter as she adds: "Yes, I'm more than proud to be the sleep princess!"

Rheanne
"Years ago, a new girl came to class with a thick accent. when she introduced herself, her name sounded like WRY-un. We were confused Ryan? or Rain? or Rine?
She insisted, "No, they're saying it wrong!" and finally wrote it on the board Rheanne. A name normally pronounced as ree-ANNE or ray-ANNE. but with her accent, she emphasized the first syllable so much that it ended up sounding like WRY-un.
Don't get me wrong, accents are great, but... why some parents choose names that make their children's lives more complicated? Maybe a name that they understood with their accent wouldn't be bad."
Puffypants
One sunny afternoon in a bustling city park, Lila settled on a bench to enjoy the nice weather. She watched families, couples and children play, all in apparent tranquility, until a cheerful shout broke the air "Puffypants! Where are you, Puffypants?"
Intrigued, Lila looked up at a little girl in pigtails and a floral dress running through the park, completely immersed in her play. Passersby smiled at the amusing scene.
Lila couldn't help but laugh to herself. "Puffypants? What an adorable name for a dog not a girl!" She thought.
That nickname conveyed a sense of friendliness and closeness, as if it was impossible not to smile when she heard it.
Cakestun
"There's a child in my son's class names CAKESTUN. yep.
C-A-K-E-S-T-U-N. Pronounced exactly how it looks. For months my child insisted this was his name. I don't even know how many times I told him there was no way and he was clearly meaning Kayson or even Kayston.
However, I was added to a group message where his own mother said his name and the truth shook me to my core! How?!?! Why?! CAKESTUN??"

Téa
She loved the idea of having a unique name for her daughter. Well, she had a baby than talked about how proud she was to give this name she was planning for a long time. Birth certificate said Téa.
So I said "Oh, an accent mark, ok Tay-uh is cute." Then she says, "Oh, no, it's pronounced Tee-yah."
I then told her, "well, then why did you use an accent mark if you don't know what it does? because it makes the 'e' sounds like 'aye'". She was stumped, then said her accent mark was supposed to be pronounced differently to give a unique name.
Well, long story short, she was pissed but eventually changed her name legally. She wanted it to sound like Tia. So what does she do? Wanted to give it a more unique spelling so she named her "Teiya".
And now everyone calls her Tay-uh, and she got so sick of correcting everyone, saying it's supposed to be pronounced like Tee-yah, that now her daughter goes by Tay-uh.

Ruff
"My sister has a baby. I'm happy for her. Her baby's name is Ruff. It's Ruff. It sounds like a dog. I thought she was joking and laughed. I was wrong.
She asked me why I was laughing. I said it sounded like a dog barking. Ruff ruff! I thought we were laughing, but she got mad. she was angry.
She said I was being disrespectful and that the name had meaning to her and her husband. apparently, they love some obscure video game character. I told her that she can name her child whatever she wants, but people will associate it and it might be hard for him in school.
She won't return my texts or calls. My mom says I should have kept my mouth shut. Am I the only one seeing this?"
Cartier and Alcapone
"So, I was with my mom, dad, and sister in a kids' fun park. There was a family; they looked kinda weird, but I didn't pay much attention to them.
There was a celebration of Saint Nicholas Day, and the kids were being called to go and pick up some stuff.
So, this family I was talking about comes next, and the first kid's names is "Cartier." Yeah, like that fancy jewelry store with the watches and jewelry.
The next kid from the family comes, and they announce their names as "Alcapone."
I can only tell you that me and my mom burst out laughing and just couldn't stop! How ridiculous is this??"
Harlotte
"My cousin named her daughter the worst name ever!
So my 20yr old cousin had a baby girl last month.
She named her something horrific I cannot even call the baby it. She combined two names and came up with... Harlotte. After her grandparents Harvey and Charlotte.
She didn't tell anyone the name idea until after she was named and papers signed. My mom burst out, YOU NAMED THE BABY WHORE??? and my cousin started screaming. We are a loud family, but holy hell.
This poor child. Harlotte. HARLOTTE.
She came out very pink and has a piglet nose so I'm calling her Piglet for now."

Gary and Garry
"About a year ago I was having a conversation with a coworker who was maybe in her 60s-70s, and her children came up in our conversation. I asked what they did for living, and she mentioned that one of her sons has two major careers (or so I thought).
I asked her how it was possible for her son to purse two different careers, and she said , "No Gary is the ophthalmologist and my other son Gary is in business". I was like, "Both of your sons are named Gary6"
She said, "No, no, no. My older son is named Gary, and my younger son is named Garry. It's different."
Long story short, after a bunch of back and forth, one son's name is spelled Gary with one R, and the other is Garry with two R's pronounced Gaeair-ee, like you pronounce the "air" in Gary more slowly (if that makes any sense-I didn't make that rule).
I jokingly said it was probably really hard to call for either of them, like, "Garry, go clean your room! No, the other Gary!!" And she didn't Laugh."
